Sonatrach Skikda Refinery Project

In July 2009, we were awarded with the Skikda Refinery Project worth 2.6 billion dollars ordered by Sonatrach. This project was aimed at repairing and expanding the existing plant that was more than 30 years old, increase the production capacity of the existing crude oil distillation unit (CDU) by 110% by modernizing the control system, make products that comply with Euro V Requirements by establishing isomerate, paraxylene and benzene plants, and secure a business of higher added value. Due to its importance, the Skikda Refinery could only be shut down for 75 days for the repair and renovation of the existing plant and connection with the expanded plant, making the construction work very challenging. However, we completed the work flawlessly by applying modularization, our advanced technology, including the 3D scanning of the existing plant, and construction skills.

The First Step into the Vast African Continent

Furthermore, despite the large size and complexity of the project, with 6,500 workers of 91 subcontractors from 10 countries on average per day, in December 2013, we completed the construction work successfully while recording 66 million manhours without incident. As a result, we gained the trust of Sonatrach, which was a new client for us, and took a successful first step into the huge African continent, which held abundant resources and limitless growth potentials.
